Understanding Business Requirements

As Liztek consultant, there are several steps are taken to understand client’s data warehousing business requirements. Here are some of the key steps:

  1. Gather Information: The first step is to gather as much information as possible about the client’s business requirements. We can achieve this by conducting interviews with key stakeholders, reviewing documentation, and observing their current data warehousing processes.

  1. Define Scope: After gathering information, the Liztek consultant needs to define the scope of the project. This involves identifying the specific business requirements that the data warehouse needs to meet, the expected outcomes, and any constraints or limitations.

  2. Analyze Data: The next step is to analyze the client’s existing data to gain a better understanding of its quality, structure, and format. This will help to determine the feasibility of meeting the business requirements.

  3. Develop a Data Model: Based on the business requirements and data analysis, the Liztek consultant will develop a data model that outlines the structure and relationships of the data elements that will be stored in the data warehouse.

  4. Create an ETL Plan: Once the data model is developed, Liztek consultant will create an ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) plan. This plan outlines how the data will be extracted from the source systems, transformed into the desired format, and loaded into the data warehouse.

  5. Define Reporting Requirements: :Liztek consultant will work with the client to define the reporting requirements, including the type of reports, the frequency, and the level of detail needed.

  6. Develop a Data Governance Plan: Finally, Liztek consultant will develop a data governance plan to ensure that the data warehouse remains accurate, consistent, and secure over time. This plan will outline the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders involved in maintaining the data warehouse and the processes that will be followed to ensure data quality.

Overall, the key is to understand client’s data warehousing business requirements to take a systematic and comprehensive approach, working closely with key stakeholders throughout the project and deliver as per requirements.
